Music in the Park is a great opportunity for Lacombe residents and visitors alike to enjoy the talents of local and regional musicians. Concerts run through June, July and August, starting at 6:30pm, on the Echo Stage on the south side of the Lacombe Memorial Centre (5214 50 Ave). Bring your lawn chairs or picnic blankets and join us for some great atmosphere and wonderful entertainment.
The performances go rain or shine so if the weather looks iffy the concerts will move indoors. There will be signs if we move to an inside venue.
The Lacombe Market, with a newly approved Alberta Farmers Market section, will be on site from 4:30 to 8:30 and they have food trucks. No need to cook dinner! You can make an evening of it.
The following is the summer schedule.
Please check the website or facebook regularly in case of changes.
The “Incredible Randi Boulton”, as Canadian rock icon Tom Cochrane calls her, is a powerhouse singer, one whose voice seriously parallels those of her musical motivators: Melissa Etheridge, Janis Joplin, Bonnie Raitt, Jewel, as well as fellow Canadians Jann Arden, Serena Ryder, and Sarah McLachlan, and often finds herself compared to Adele. Even social media is noticing her talent thanks to getting a nudge on Twitter from fellow Canadian, Jann Arden, who tweeted to her fans: "Follow this kid...pretty great singer."
While she’s not new to the music industry, Boulton is finally getting the recognition deserving of her 17 years in the business. June, 2014 saw Boulton release her fourth full
-length independent album, ‘Randi with an I’, produced by the Juno-award winning Russell Broom. Her albums and live performances have helped her sell out theaters and blaze her own path in the industry. A feat few independent artists ever achieve.
With a vast and eclectic taste in music, Randi’s genre has been referred to as Americana. Like so many creative spirits, she writes when inspiration hits. But one thing is for sure: Randi’s vocals create whatever sound she desires, whether that be creating a soulful airy sound, or belting it out.
“Music is woven into the fabric of my being, and I can’t shut it off,” says Randi. Randi Boulton’s world-class, soulful vocals are an experience music lovers won’t soon forget and we are lucky to have her right here in Lacombe!
Renegade Station came together almost accidentally as husband and wife duo of singer/ bassist Luann and guitarist Russell Carl began attending and performing at a town variety show in Stettler, not long after moving to the rural Alberta community. There they met guitarist/vocalist Kent Nixon and drummer Scott McKnight at the popular event and decided to create a band to play local dances and parties becoming the “go to” act on the circuit.
They are unabashed about injecting their original music and songs presented to them by other noted songwriters with healthy doses of pop and classic rock nuances - with a focus on lushly-produced and beautifully- layered vocal harmonies which owe as much to Fleetwood Mac as they do to Lady Antebellum.
A live show by Renegade Station never fails to enchant and entertain and with an unparalleled creative drive, Renegade Station is truly poised to break through to a national and international stage. Don’t miss this opportunity to see them on our stage!
The Overdue Blues Band was created in 2011. The band members forming the group are seasoned veterans in the music scene, each bringing a diverse approach in their craft. We are so pleased to be able to feature them again here in Lacombe. Be prepared to put on those dancing shoes! You won’t be able to resist.
This group plays everything from Rock to Reggae, Country to Blues, and are sure to entertain you. Featuring the only stick player in Calgary, this versatile band also features three amazing vocalists, hot guitar playing, keyboards and powerful drum sounds.
The Rojos were one of our most popular bands last season, playing with an energy and skill that breathed new life into many of our classic favorites. We are very excited to be featuring them again this year.
Squidjigger is a roots/rock trio based out of Montreal and Calgary with a standing engagement upstairs at Hurley’s Irish Pub in Montreal. Blending a wide array of musical styles, from east-coast celtic to classic rock to contemporary pop, the band has entertained from PEI to BC.
From early shows at pubs in Montreal to present day gigs for the throngs of revelers at Hurley’s and other venues, the Squids always make it a point to rock the night away and make sure everyone has a good time.
We are pleased to welcome them to Lacombe and the Echo Stage!
Medisinal is a Classic Rock band from just down the road – Red Deer! They guarantee to get the crowd rockin’!!!! They got their start by getting a few buds together to jam in a friend’s barn, and they just didn’t want to stop playing! Brent, Garth and Mitch have played and toured Alberta and we are very excited to have them back again. Get ready to party and have a great night out!!
Just like we love to start off our season with Flatiron Jazz, we also like to wrap up our summer with a crowd favorite: Tap 9. Formed in 2010, their musical styles and backgrounds range from Blues, Country, Jazz and Rock. The band shows no limitations to their writing and performing abilities. Since the release of their first album in 2011, their identity has become more defined. The group leans back into their country roots and steps into modern classic rock, but with a twist! One never knows what to expect with these guys, so get ready to tap those toes, do a little finger snappin’ and have a whole lotta fun!
